2008 Founder’s Day has come and gone but what an inspiring way to spend the day. A crisp sunny winter’s day presented Fairbridge Village beautifully. Don Findlay led the Church Service after which OFA President Stuart Law, and Fairbridge WA Board Member John Clegg led the wreath laying. A hearty lunch was had in the Clubhouse and it was great to see the OFA Museum opened again. Special guests were John and Judy Chiffings, and son Peter. Judy is the great granddaughter of 1930’s Principal Alfred Joyner. The Chiffings family donated to the OFA Museum the inscribed silver trowel that Alfred Joyner used to lay the Church Foundation Stone in 1931. Peter gave a great speech with some amusing anecdotes about his great-grandfather and we hope to see them back again another Founder’s Day!

Espied in the crowd this year were mostly evergreens. Not many “younger” Old Fairbridgians – pity. It was great catch up with the Committee and many guests including Maxine Ellison, Alwyn Bridges, Mike Barnett, George Braithwaite, John Galsworthy, Christine Downs, Lois Elliott, Richard Stewart, John Cooper, Lynne Rainey, Graham Bennett, Pat Hutchinson, Norm Henshall and Frank Richardson. So many others, again I’m sorry I didn’t get all the names!

A special memory for the late John Lane was observed.
