Many people today gathered at Fairbridge to participate in the final goodbye to Auntie Kath Mir who passed away a couple of months ago. Today would have been her 80th birthday. The Mir family and ex-Fairbridge people and their families who were close to Kath gathered in the remembrance garden next to the church to hear Stuart Law farewell her. It was a touching ceremony and brought home to all of us that despite the fact that most of us had only spent a short part of our lives at Fairbridge, a lasting feeling of kinship rippled forward through our lives with those we lived and worked with. This is especially true of Kath who continued to care for many ex-Fairbridge boys from her departure from Fairbridge in the mid-1960’s all the way to her passing in 2005. Some pictures of the ceremony and “her Hudson boys” can be found in “Photograph & Image Albums”, “Fairbridge Faces Now” section of this website
